Apprehension & the geometry of authentic resonance
A conversation with Aspasia Karageorge & Daniel Garner
Madcap philosopher Daniel Garner,
psychedelic clinical psychologist Aspasia Karageorge
. . . and me!
I myself have recently taken a deliberate step back from my insatiable desire to consume fascinating content online because at this point - even if I leave out all the parasitic algorithmic dopa-memes - just the content I find truly fascinating is getting overwhelming these days!
So I can certainly forgive you if you don’t want to watch another 2-hour + video.
But . . . if you are interested in gracefully navigating the complexity of a world that is in the midst of shedding its old skin, you might just find this fascinating.
This was certainly one of my favorite conversations of all time, and it doesn’t hurt that this is now the third (? - I’m starting to lose track already!) conversation I’ve had with Daniel and Aspasia, riffing on a magically generative phrase that descended from the heaven’s into Aspasia’s brain last year:
“Authentic Resonance”
That phrase has been the sun which our interplanetary orbits have been circling in a series of conversations, drawing on our experiences with philosophy, psychiatry, embodiment . . . and everyday life!
We covered tons of ground in this conversation from the departure point of contrasting two basic behavioral modes:
- Being in the world as a problem-solver, convinced that there is a rational "answer" to all problems and calculating everything.
OR
- Following one's inner compass - even when it conflicts external sources - of what makes you feel alive and expanded.
. . . and we came up with a hand gesture for our new secret society!
If you like to wonder about how to live with more flow, how to relate harmoniously with people in a completely different energy than you, the future of education, and so much more . . . Check this out!
Here is the wonderful summary from the video caption that Aspasia wrote and time stamps she made that will give you more of a sense of the wild ride we went on:
Here we continue our ongoing exploration of authentic resonance by focusing on concepts of apprehension, intuition, circulation of 'energy', developmental aspects of relating to our interiority, preparation vs. planning, and the impact of language on our cognitive processes. We begin by exploring the balance between experiential work (e.g., therapy) and calculated thought. We go on to discuss the nuances of creating spaces for genuine human interaction, the necessity of self-defense through thinking, and the architectural design of conditions that facilitate more profound awareness and relational integrity in adulthood.
