The moments of insight that shift what’s possible happen in the in between.
The spaces between thoughts and perception.
The silences between words.
These are the places where resonance lives.
Our insights, more often than not, are new ways of seeing the same old thing. You look for the one-thousandth time at familiar circumstances, but this time, because your breath has changed its rhythm or because you are actively sensing the ground below your feet, you see something new.
You see something new because you are looking out of different eyes.
Perhaps they are softer, wider.
Maybe they are more attuned to color or depth.
Perhaps they are more forgiving of the past,
more present to the here and now.
But there's no formula.
The only thing you can do is to be open, available for possibility.
As you create new narratives that you never told yourself before, life night be otherwise nearly identical to yesterday.
But your attention is alive in a brand new way.
The moment between thought and perception is the place where meaning takes shape - any shape at all.
What you see, touch, taste, feel and smell creates a sensory constellation that no words can capture. Yet a single word - perhaps “yes” - can completely change your sensorium. So there is a strange translation that takes place between the realms of words and the wordless.
This is where the unique individuality of your being is created.
When you and I meet and you speak and I listen, there is always so much more here than we could possibly know.
If, when you finish, I wait a little longer before I reply, I will hear even more of what you have already said.
The tone of your voice in my ear communicates something more than your words. So does the breeze on my cheek and the rush of traffic should be standing on the street corner as we speak.
Then, when I do spark my voice, the changing shape of your face as you listen continually re-tunes my expression. I adjust to your adjustments without even knowing it.
These everyday moments that we so often dismiss are so much more mysterious than we could possibly know.
It’s impossible to plan insights, but we can make space for them.
We can give more attention to the smallest sensations of our bodies, treating them like signals rather than noise.
We can invite more silence into conversation, trusting that expression continues to unfold when our voices are silent.
We can make it a practice, revivifying the rituals of everyday life to make space for the reminders of the miracle of being.
The Grounded Connection community meets weekly to reimagine our relationships to self, other and world with the creativity of our attention.
Every call includes deep listening to the language of the body and the resonance of togetherness through collective somatic attunement and embodied dialogue.
Tomorrow, Tuesday July 8 at 6pm EST, you’re invited to a free open house event to experience what these practices feel like in your bones.
In this room filled with people consciously opened to mystery, the way you know yourself can shift in delightfully unexpected ways.
Come claim what’s yours.
I hope I can join a future Open House
