Tomorrow: cultivate well-being in interconnected community
'Collective Well-Being' drop-in class, Wednesday 11/20 at 8pm EST
For better or worse, it's getting harder to ignore the interconnectivity of all the inhabitants of planet Earth and our dependence on each other.
It's worth thinking about three levels of this interconnectivity:Â
Every part of our body relates to every other
Our bodies intimately relate to our immediate surroundings
And we're all connected to each other
All these relationships exist on a spectrum.
Which is why the state of our bodies informs the way we relate and what it feels like for others to be around us. Which means that when you expand your embodied capacities, you create new options for others too.
That's what we'll be playing with and sharing about tomorrow night during the next session of Collective Well-Being. We'll discover why Moshe Feldenkrais had a very unique definition of posture, something more like "readiness":
Good posture, he said, is the ability to move in any direction at any time without preparation or hesitation - and when you learn to do this by moving from your center, your hip joints will love you!
Meanwhile, when you can gracefully change directions as you move through unpredictable circumstances, emotional currents and interactions with others, you can feel grounded when other people around you are not.
The more we work cooperatively to build these kinds of skills together, the more effective we can be at maintaining ease in our nervous systems even when external circumstances in the world feel challenging.
It's time to acknowledge:
There is no such thing as individual well-being without collective being!Â
That's the theme we explore together through embodied process in this class.
I hope to see you there tomorrow (Wednesday) at 8pm EST.
There's a suggested donation of $20 but smaller and larger amounts are also gratefully received. All registrants will have access to video replays.
