What the founder of the Feldenkrais Method said about human experience
Readings and commentaries on Awareness Through Movement by Moshe Feldenkrais
I believe the contribution of Moshe Feldenkrais to the advancement of human potential deserves much more recognition.
More widespread application of his deep embodied insights into learning would massively benefit our highly distraught species.
Q: But how do you get people to listen in such a fast-paced world? 🤔
A: By recording podcasts! 😅
With this post, I wanted to make Substack readers aware of a series of videos on my YouTube channel with readings from Moshe Feldenkrais’s 1972 book Awareness Through Movement and supplemental commentaries.
You can listen while driving or folding your laundry!
The Feldenkrais Method is a powerful embodied self inquiry that is usually practiced in group movement classes or through hands-on ‘lessons’ given by a practitioner.
These practices are incredibly potent by themselves, but gain an even greater depth when one becomes familiar with the larger vision of the man who created them.
Among many other questions addressed in these readings, Feldenkrais discusses:
how our internalized ‘self image’ guides all our actions
the relationship of the individual to society
an embodied view of child psychology
the principles of ideal human movement in the field of gravity
the path of life-long learning

Hey Seth! I’ve been meaning to tell you that I started watching your series and I’m really appreciating it. I have always been curious about Feldenkrais but never had looked into it. Thanks for being my guide. It deeply resonates and I’m already thinking about how it weaves with the work I do. Let’s chat! ❤️
